A Lovely Animation for World AIDS Day

A couple of years ago, an animation student at CalArts named Jisoo Kim came to us with an idea. She wanted to take our documentary Thembi’s AIDS Diary and animate it for a class project. We were a bit skeptical: this was a student project, and we were a little doubtful that an animation could do justice to the piece and to Thembi. But what Jisoo ended up making is an utterly gorgeous animation.

It’s worth a watch in and of itself, but we also learned today that Jisoo was one of the winners in the animation category of the MY HERO International Film Festival. Congratulations, Jisoo! And thanks for your work.
