Nelson Mandela At 100

Nelson Mandela would have been 100 years old this week. And we’re marking the anniversary by bringing you our documentary, Mandela: An Audio History.

Over his lifetime Mandela was called many things: a terrorist, a freedom fighter, an icon of peace.  He has left a rich and complicated legacy. Today on the podcast, we go back to South Africa during the time of apartheid. We’ll hear the story from Nelson Mandela himself and the voices that fought with him, and against him.

Mandela: An Audio History was produced by Joe Richman, Sue Jaye Johnson and Ben Shapiro. Edited by Deborah George and Chris Turpin. The Radio Diaries Podcast is produced by Nellie Gilles and Sarah Kate Kramer. We have support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Endowments for the Arts, the New York Council on the Arts, and many others. We are a proud member of Radiotopia from PRX
